Special Notice and Update 8/29/09

Fundraiser meet and greet with Rob will begin at the Ruthven House at 4pm and end at 5pm. Cost is $100 dollars per person and $125 a couple. Picnic will start at 5pm at the park and cost is $10 per person. Rob will be speaking at the picnic.

SPECIAL NOTICE: If you are going to the Ruthven House event on Dr. Faul Road, please drive slowly and carefully. There are a high concentration of deer there and there have been a number of deer strikes. Please drive slowly and enjoy the tour through some beautiful scenery in Brown County.

New Features, New Events, and A BIG PARTY

Hello, fellow Republicans. Things have been going on and picking up at a heavy pace since Lincoln Day. The club has had a meeting at a new venue, and there are several new features that the Party is employing to better reach out and serve you, the people.

First, the party is now on Facebook. Facebook is one of the prime social networking sites. It is one of the most used applications by people age 35 and under for social and professional networking. If you have a facebook account, you can search for the Brown County GOP in groups, or you can go here and submit a request to join. Due to the possibility of spammers and such joining, it is a closed group. However, once you submit a request, odds are very good you will be approved. We have some members already. If you haven't joined yet, do it!

Also, Bill Herdmann's birthday is coming up. It will be a great event. Bill wants to raise money for worthy causes, and he is using his birthday to do it. We will be hosting a Birthday Party for Bill. Of course he says we have to raise money for a good cause. So all the proceeds will be given to the Christina Loehrke Scholarship and the Republican party. What a Grass Roots Guy! We will have an opportunity to Roast Bill and with the other entertainment we have planed you will not want to miss it. Cost is 85.00 per couple (get it Bills 85 lol) and 50.00 per person. The day is May 23, 2009 from 4pm til 10pm at the Lake Lorelei Clubhouse. Come one, come all. You can rsvp through contacting Mariah Votel or via Facebook.

And, of course, there has been the tea party phenomena. What do you think about the tea parties? Should we in Brown County plan one? Were you at a tea party? Feel free to interact via facebook or in the comments of the blog.

A Lincoln Day to Remember--Save the Date

Friends, the time has come. We are excited to announce that we will be having a Bicentennial Lincoln Celebration on Saturday Evening, February 28th.

Our evening will be a dedication to our party's founding father, Abraham Lincoln. Our speaker will be the Great Emancipator himself, as portrayed by world renowned actor, Fritz Klein. Mr. Klein owns the Lincoln Institute in Springfield, Illinois and has traveled the world with his "Portrait of a President."

The celebration will be held at the Eagles Hall in Georgetown starting with a social hour at 5:30pm. Our program will begin at 6:30pm. Dinner will cost $25 per person and $10 per child. To Reserve call 937-444-9353.

During the evening, we will be having a silent auction, as well as the presentation of the Donohoo and Sequoia awards. We will also be recognizing Gail, Dale, Gary, and Perry for their years of service. Congresswoman Schmidt, State Senator Niehaus, and State Rep. Danny Bubp will also give us updates. Special thanks to John Becker, Danny Bubp, Mike Daly, Sen. Niehaus, and Rep. Schmidt for helping with the speaker.

Club Meeting November 20th

There will be a club meeting on November 20th at 7:30pm at the headquarters in Georgetown. We will be nominating and electing officers for Club offices - President, Vice-president, Secretary and Treasurer. I also want to thank everyone for all of their HARD WORK!!!! It takes a team to do what we did in Brown County. As you can see from Mark's post below this one we did not fair too bad in Brown County. And, there is still one race that will be decided by Provisional ballets around the 20th of November. All of our candidates worked very hard and even if they did not get the seat this time I am proud to stand beside them and say we are Republicans for a Reason (As Paul would say).

We need to start today to rally together and make a difference in 2010. I look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting on Thursday, November 20th @ 7:30pm. Please do not hesitate to call with any questions. My contact number is 513-313-6012.

As most of you know, Obama won the Presidency last night. The Republicans lost, even though Brown County turned out for McCain. Also, congratulations to Jean Schmidt, Connie Patrick, Judges Hendrickson and Ringland,Danny Bubp, Tom Niehaus, Scott Gusweiler, Jessica Little, Tina Meranda, and Amy DeClaire, and Dwayne Wenninger for their victories and helping us to gain some offices we haven't had in a long time, as well as holding some offices we have had.

To all of you who were candidates, you fought the good fight. You stayed above board, you didn't engage in the smear mongering and innuendo that your opponents often engaged in. To all who volunteered, knocked on doors, stood at poll places; THANK YOU! It is people like you all who make Brown County and America great.

Over the next two years, we have a lot of work to do. I think we can take from this election that we in the Republican party have not convinced the people that we have found our way out of the "go along to get along" and "new tone" nonsense. We have not convinced them yet that we have returned to our core principles of limited government, strong defense, and fiscal conservatism. Over the next two years, let us come together, regardless of personal issues or past kerflubbles, and work to restore the faith in our party and get back to the blueprint that produced the greatest era in our history, the 1980s.

However, let us not look to the same national and state leadership, for much of that leadership has led us to our current state, both nationally and in our state. While we acknowledge their contributions, the time has come for a renaissance, not of new core values, but a new faith in those core values, with new leaders and new ideas to get out the message of core principles. Our national and state party leaders failed conservative ideals, the ideals did not fail them.

Come, let us work together. The task is hard but necessary. The time is grave but not unsalvageable. Let us work to restore ourselves. After all, there is some hope. California, OF ALL PLACES, passed an amendment protecting marriage. That should show us that the American people have not left the center/right area. They just don't know where our party stands. Let us work to show them. God bless one and all and God bless America!

Congresswoman Jean Schmidt Event 10-20-08

Below you find some pictures from Congresswoman Jean Schmidt's event at the Brown County Republican Headquarters on 10/20/08. The event turned out very nice with around 40 people in attendance. The Congresswoman is doing remarkably well since her accident. With a broken vertebrae and 2 cracked ribs she is still going strong trying to keep up with her schedule. Please continue to keep her in your prayers as she continues to heal.
